In difficult times, children need support they can rely on. Our Individual Child Support program helps each child, regardless of their background, to unlock their potential. We combine mentoring, tutoring, and sponsorship to offer personalised assistance. Thanks to our team and donors, we can see children thrive as they build trusting relationships, improve their education and start to succeed in life. The program continues to grow across Ukraine.
Key results in 2024:
Launched in 2013, the program supports children in care and those facing hardship by meeting their individual needs. For many, emotional support from a mentor is the first step - once trust and confidence begin to grow, they’re ready to set learning goals and engage with a tutor. Other children may start just with tutoring or combine it with sponsorship to access educational resources and opportunities. Each child’s path is different, but all benefit from personalised support. As a result, children go on to attend university, build careers, and shape brighter futures — a testament to the program’s lasting impact.
Program Manager Yulia Pryima (since 2023) shares:
Consistency. Mentors show up regularly, proving someone truly cares. Their aim isn’t to change the child but to build trust, be a friend, and help them grow through offering understanding and belief in their abilities.
War, instability, and rapid change make life harder for children. Mentors guide them when other adults can’t. This helps children in care, troubled families, or even with bereaved parents, to see new perspectives and solutions.
We partner with regional social services, and national organisations who are making mentoring a priority, like the Coordination Center for the Promotion of Family Care, “DiyMo” Office of Children and Youth in the Ministry of Social Policy, and the Mentorship Association of Ukraine. In 2025, we launched mentorship in new locations in the Lviv Region: Stryi, Drohobych, and Zolochiv. Currently we have 42 active mentor-child pairs.
Teenagers are finding it harder to think about the future when they are stressed about the war, so they need help to consider careers. Teenagers who know their career interests benefit from mentors in that field, who act not only as a friend, but also as a specialist, able to share their experience and practical knowledge. For example:
- Olena & mentor Yulia Lapan (a journalist): Together they created a personal development plan. Olena even produced a video as her first journalism experience, telling the story of the winter meeting for children and mentors.
- Nastya & mentor Maryana Kuchma (an actress): Preparing together for Nastya's drama school entrance exams. Maryana also gave Nastya an internship with her in event management, giving practical career experience.
War disrupts education, leaving some topics unlearned - yet education remains one of the strongest influences on a child's future and lifelong opportunities. Tutoring helps close learning gaps with a personalised approach. Volunteers are recruited online, supported regularly, and appreciated. Their motivation comes from the students they teach and our team’s encouragement.
Sponsorship supports not just basic needs but personal growth — helping kids develop skills, confidence, and trust in the world. Events also bring children and families in crisis together, offering structured, supportive spaces for all ages. When we build trust, children start to believe in better opportunities and consider future careers.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributes to our work. Your generosity helps us build an environment where children feel cared for, supported, and empowered to grow.
To our donors — thank you. Your contributions make life-changing initiatives possible. You’re not just supporting a project; you’re investing in a child’s future.
To our volunteers — your time, experience, and warmth mean the world. You offer more than guidance; you become a steady presence, a role model, and a friend when children need it most.
And to our partner organisations, government agencies, and social services — thank you for standing with us. Together, we are not only supporting individual children, but also working toward a stronger, more compassionate care system. With our shared commitment, we’re helping shape a society where every child has the chance to thrive.
Together, we inspire real stories of change.
