Together to a happy childhood

The Together Program has launched three new projects since May 2025: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Drama Lessons and "The World of Professions". The program reaches children in care and in difficult circumstances. In wartime Ukraine 44% of children are having difficulty concentrating, easily getting upset or feeling lonely. Our activities are not just educational or therapeutic — they are a space where children feel care and build resilience.

Our Together Programme activities are helping children to laugh and recover some normal emotions in their lives which are turned upside down by war. This also brings our volunteers and refugees together in a “volunteer family” where they feel a part of something and able to help.

Our aid is getting to refugees in war zones


Care in Action continues to use its network within Ukraine to supply large quantities of humanitarian aid to families and refugee shelters in Lviv and into the war-torn areas to the East.  Working with our public and NGO partners, we are expanding to provide assistance to the most vulnerable.

612 hostel beds, 374 people to the border, relief for refugees


Because of our longstanding presence and work in Ukraine, Care in Action is uniquely positioned to continue to provide urgently needed food, shelter and transportation to the growing influx of refugees in Lviv.  Thanks to your donations, we have been able to hire two more temporary members of staff to expand our operations in assisting mothers and children fleeing the war zones.

Refugee babies and children get shelter and transport


As the humanitarian crisis intensifies in Ukraine our on-the-ground team of staff and volunteers in Lviv continue to provide shelter, transport and support to the growing number of refugees entering the region on their way to the border. Our priority is children, and most of the refugee families we are assisting are mothers travelling alone with small children.

Helping Ukrainian refugees to safety


How we are helping refugees in Ukraine and Germany with food, shelter and escape from war zones in Ukraine. The first mother and two children arrived in Munich Tuesday midnight. Upon disembarking from the train, the younger daughter asked her mother, “No one shoots at us here?” Donations are greatly appreciated.

Stand with Ukraine


As floods of refugees are arriving in Lviv to escape the military action acrosss Ukraine, the needs are enormous and we are there to help. The donations we have received are helping our team, who is in Lviv and taking effective action to help people fleeing the violent conflict, and in Starnberg so we are prepared to welcome refugees.

Mentors help young people achieve their dreams


Angela is one of 39 children and young people who receive the personal support of a mentor or tutor in our Guardian Angel programme. With her mentor’s help, Angela is getting higher grades in college then she ever thought possible. Her mentor has noticed that Angela has become more motivated to do well in her studies, more confident and mature, and they have developed a wonderful friendship.

32 young people learn 21st Century Skills at our STEP camp


At our two-day School of Independent Living camp, young people who are in care or in “families in crisis” developed skills that many employers look for. These 21st Century Skills include public speaking, problem solving and emotional intelligence. An exciting line up of coaches and volunteers led workshops. Angela says "Thank you for the opportunity to develop as individuals!"
